What is Thangka painting and its links to both representational art, sacred geometries and meditation?

Join exhibiting artist Piero Passacantando to experience the magic of Thangka painting for yourself! Piero will introduce concepts and techniques related to mandala and thangka painting as applied to a contemporary and secular context. Participants will paint their own paintings after a short meditation. At the end, we will discuss the experience as a group.

Italian artist Piero Passacantando works with painting, food, sound, photography and participatory workshops. His current work is focused on nature and spiritual practices. He received a Fulbright grant to study Thangka painting in Nepal and has integrated the techniques he learned into his art practice. He holds an MFA from the California College of the Arts and a BFA from the Corcoran College of Art and Design, Washington, DC. He lives and works between San Pancho, Nayarit, Mexico and the countryside of Terni in the Umbria region, Italy. His solo show, "Sacred Life" is on view in ELECTR∆ Gallery April 3 -27.
